We believed, just like many still do, that the reason we worked was just to make ends meet and meet needs. After many years of dreaded Mondays and nostalgic workspaces, it seemed like a light bulb went off in our head and we realized that for every dollar earned, there were needs worth hundreds more. The harder we worked, the harder it was to meet up all ends. Our relationship to work became passive at best, but mostly an unsatisfying cycle.
Approaching your workplace from the pressure of “making ends meet” will eventually get very frustrating and lead to job dissatisfaction. Since our needs never cease, working from this standpoint will never bring you ease. We switched from trying to meet needs to pursuing purpose and instead of the frustration; we found strength, courage and reasons to wake up every Monday morning. The thought of the lives that would be impacted by our success was enough to pull us through the challenges of the workplace. We’ve been working purposefully since then and now we make more ends meet, both ours and that of others Your career choices, job selections and life path can bring you so much satisfaction, joy, and self-actualization. If you let us, and we hope you will, we’ll walk together to give you a new perspective on your workplace and you’ll look forward to “Monday Mornings” |
